REPAIR GROUTING USING BATTU
Application Scope
Suitable for repairing non-structural cracks, surface defects, honeycombing, spalled concrete, and localized damaged concrete areas.
Step 1: Surface Preparation
Remove all loose concrete, dust, gravel, and contaminants from the repair area.
Step 2: Crack Opening
Using a concrete grinder, widen the crack into a "V" groove approximately 18–25 mm deep, depending on the extent and depth of the defect. Ensure the groove is deep for repair material placement.
Step 3: Cleaning and Pre-Wetting
Thoroughly clean the inside of the groove and surrounding area. Saturate the exposed groove with clean water before commencing repairs.
Step 4: Preparation of Bonding Slurry
Mix 1 kg of cement with 50 ml of BATTU. Add sufficient water to prepare a smooth, brushable cement slurry.
Step 5: Application of Bonding Slurry
Using a brush, apply a uniform coat of the prepared slurry onto all exposed surfaces within the repair groove. This slurry acts as a bonding bridge between the existing concrete and the repair mortar.
Step 6: Preparation of Repair Mortar
Prepare a repair mortar by mixing 1 part cement with 3 parts clean, well-graded sand (1:3 ratio). Add 100 ml of BATTU for every 1 kg of cement used and mix thoroughly. Add water gradually to obtain a tight, bendable, workable micro-concrete consistency.
Step 7: Placement and Compaction
Immediately place the repair mortar into the prepared groove while the bonding slurry remains sticky. Compact thoroughly using suitable tools to eliminate air pockets and ensure complete filling of the repair cavity.
Step 8: Surface Finishing & Protective Slurry Coat
Finish the repaired area flush with the surrounding and apply a final coat of the bonding slurry over the repaired surface using a brush to improve surface integrity and protection.
Step 9: Curing
Protect the repaired area with wet gunny bags, cloth or equivalent curing methods. Maintain continuous curing for a minimum of 2-3 days, extending the duration under hot, dry, or windy weather conditions.

High Pull Out Strength
Critical Control Points
- Ensure all loose and deteriorated concrete is removed before repair.
- Maintain the substrate in hydrated condition before application.
- Apply repair mortar while the bonding slurry is still sticky.
- Compact thoroughly to avoid voids and honeycombing.
- Adequate curing is essential for optimum bond strength and durability.
Expected Benefits
- Strong bond with existing concrete.
- Reduced shrinkage cracking.
- Improved durability of repaired areas.
- Enhanced water resistance.
- Better resistance to future deterioration.
- Improved long-term performance of repaired concrete.
